In here we will talk about the latter and living in Chimborazo ecuador. Chimborazo contains a section of the tourist destination, Sangay National Park, and is located int he central Ecuadorian Andes. Riobamba is the capital of the province. It is further subdivided into ten cantons namely: Alausi, Chambo, Chunchi, Colta, Cumanda, Guamote, Guano, Pallatanga, Penipe, Riobamba. It covers an area to a total of 5,637 kilometers square or about 2,200 square miles.

A special Chimborazo information to note is that the peak of Chimborazo mountain is the furthest point if measured from the core or center of the earth. This is so because the peak actually crosses the Equatorial line, where the Earth is wider.

In the whole of Ecuador, indigenous people living in Chimborazo Ecuador have the highest percentage. They worshipped the mountain as a god. Many of these indigenous people, up to now, still do wear the traditional dress and live their culture and traditions. However, many of them do live in bad conditions of poverty and they only own small areas of land. What is nice to know is that tourism has helped the locals as some of the indigenous people now serve as mountain guides, sharing their knowledge of the majestic Andes to the tourists and sometimes they will even share stories and legends about living in Chimborazo Ecuador passed through oral tradition.

When visiting the province, tourists usually go to the capital city of Riobamba. In here you will get to see places like the Parque Maldonado or the main plaza wherein there are beautiful fountains and arcades, the municipal building and the Santa Barbara Cathedral. Saturday is a nice day to spend in the markets of the city as it is the day wherein locals living in Chimborazo Ecuador sell products such as hats, baskets, clothing, ceramics, and others. You can also visit the Museo de Arte Religioso or the Convento de la Concepcion, the most prestigious in Riobamba with priceless gem-encrusted gold monstrance which is arguably the best in the whole of the South American region.
